Osaze to Osimhen: Avoid Manchester United, join Arsenal, Barcelona
Victor Osimhen is again a top transfer target as the summer window approaches fast, but former Super Eagles star Osaze Odemwingie has warned him against joining Premier League giants Manchester United.
Osaze reasoned that the very high expectations at Manchester United may be too much for Osimhen to handle.
“I didn’t specifically mention Manchester United (among the clubs he should join) because the problem there is huge,” he told Brilafm. “The pressure on strikers is immense. You have to stay away from that. We’ve seen this with Romelu Lukaku and many other strikers; because the club is so big and demands results, they will always find a scapegoat.”
Osaze, who played for several Premier League clubs including Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, further said that both Arsenal and Barcelona, who have been recently linked to him, would be ideal destination for the Super Eagles striker.
“I would say Arsenal and Barcelona would be good (for Osimhen); they are mature clubs,” he said.
“Arsenal are my father’s team, so I mentioned them first. Real Madrid are also a great club for him. Wherever he goes, he can move the ball beautifully and demand possession. He’s also good in aerial duels.
“Real Madrid’s pitch is also wide and very suitable for his runs. Perhaps they will say that Arsenal don’t have a mature squad because they are very young, and therefore need a more mature squad so that all the burden doesn’t fall on his shoulders.
“He can make a big difference with his speed. Despite everything, those players are all very good players. He has a height advantage and he runs well; that’s what English football is like.”
